The OMS School Council have a new initiative and its called the ‘Pow-Wow’. The class reps have realised that the best way of giving each individual in their class the chance to get their voice heard is to ask everyone for their opinions.
The school council will use one of their regular meetings to decide on a topic each month eg improving the playground, behaviour etc. The first topic they chose to focus on was behaviour and the class reps created a list of probing questions (see below). These questions were sent to each class to discuss in their class assembly slot that week. When the results came in, the School Council analysed the information and presented a summary to Mr Young. The information will be used by Mr Young and the SLT to help make important decisions in moving the school forward. The voice of every student at OMS is important and this way all children have a chance to contribute.
