PSHE

At Olney Middle School (OMS) we teach Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) to underpin children’s development as people and because we understand that this also supports their learning ability. PSHE enables our children to become healthy, independent, safe and responsible members of society. We aim to equip children with the skills they need in life, giving them the knowledge to make informed decisions when they are in real-life situations. At OMS we understand the importance of giving children correct, scientific information at an age-appropriate level. We also strongly believe in the importance of teaching children emotional literacy, being able to name and understand their feelings. This is taught alongside a focus on mindfulness – how to manage their mental wellbeing in different environments. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society, which is underpinned by our school’s CARING values
